Equine Cryotherapy
Jujube Ranch offers professional mobile equine cryotherapy services, delivering targeted and fast cold therapy directly to your barn. Our treatments are tailored to each horse’s specific needs and generally are used to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, and support long-term soundness.
Cryotherapy helps manage the body’s inflammation response by constricting blood vessels, reducing metabolic demand, and limiting swelling. As tissues return to normal temperature, circulation increases, helping flush out waste products and deliver oxygen and nutrients essential for healing.
Spot treatments typically range from 30 to 90 seconds in duration; however, some horses require time to acclimate to both the sensation and the sound of the equipment. For optimal results, sessions are best conducted in a familiar environment with a calm, trusted handler present to provide steady reassurance throughout.
Following treatment, most horses show classic parasympathetic responses signaling relief, relaxation, softened eye, licking/chewing, sighing or snorting, resting a hind leg, or even a full body shake. Sometimes we see horses experience improved comfort picking up feet, a longer stride or a more fluid walk following treatments. You may even find your horse is more willing to flex joints that were previously guarded or is less reactive when palpating troubled areas.
Please keep in mind that Cryotherapy is not a substitute for veterinary care.
Always consult with a veterinarian before making decisions about your horse’s health.
Cryo Treatment Options
Tier 1: Precision Point $25
Targeted treatment for paired small areas — ideal for focused recovery on specific trouble spots such as a pair of fetlocks, knees, or hocks.
Tier 2: Dual-Zone $50
Comprehensive coverage for paired large joints or expanded muscle groups — perfect for stifles, shoulders, hips, or large muscle group pairs.
Tier 3: Competition Recovery $75
Our most extensive cryotherapy option designed for serious recovery needs and post-competition care. Choice of full back/topline, a pair of hooves, or a combo of one area from Tier 1 and Tier 2.
Redlight Massage Therapy
Jujube Ranch also offers both red‑light massage and red‑light hoof therapy to target reducing muscular tension and maintaining hoof health. Our unique massage gun has an 8-head percussion system combined with red-light therapy that allows even delivery across the back, shoulders, hindquarters and glutes. Following treatment, horses often show improved softness, freer movement, and typically end the session in a calmer parasympathetic state. This type of therapy was designed with equine sensitivity in mind, and as such, is especially well-suited for nervous horses. Our redlight sessions typically last between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the level of treatment desired.
Red‑light therapy uses specific red and near‑infrared wavelengths to support the body’s natural healing and recovery processes. These wavelengths penetrate the skin and soft tissues, where they interact with the mitochondria — the part of the cell responsible for producing energy. When tissues receive this light, cellular energy production increases, circulation improves, and the body becomes more efficient at repairing and restoring itself. Therapies involving red and near‑infrared wavelengths are an excellent non-invasive drug free option for horse owners to help support soft tissue health.

Combining Cryo & Red-light therapy
Since these two treatments complement each other by working on opposite ends of the recovery spectrum, they can be combined to create a balanced recovery cycle.
Cryotherapy = acute management
Red-light therapy = restoration and cellular repair
This comprehensive recovery option combines these two modalities to support major muscle chains, restores circulation, reduces inflammation, and provides targeted limb support for balanced recovery and improved overall soundness. Contact us for pricing.
