About Jujube Ranch
A foundation-first approach to calm, confident, willing horses.
When we first found the property that would become Jujube Ranch, it was being used to cultivate jujube trees — small dates known for their resilience and sweetness. The name felt like an instant fit. Our youngest daughter Julie had been affectionately called “Jujube” since she was young, and the land happened to share a fenceline with her trainer who was boarding our horse, Kaycee. Everything aligned naturally, and the property immediately felt like the right place to put down roots.
From the beginning, we built Jujube Ranch with longevity, usability, and thoughtful design in mind. The property now includes a professionally designed arena, a comfortable viewing area, a quaint barn with additional horses, and well-maintained turnout space - all created to support a calm, functional environment for horses and the people who work with them.
What began as a personal passion has grown into a place where horses and humans can learn together. Our work focuses on developing trust and responsiveness - the qualities that create a true partnership. Whether we’re focused on building confidence, improving conditioning, or refining foundational skills, our goal remains the same: a willing attitude and a responsive horse.
Meet Julie (lead trainer)
Julie approaches every horse with a foundation‑first mindset rooted in clarity, timing, and feel. Her training emphasizes correct biomechanics, balanced movement, and a soft, relaxed expression — indicators that the horse is mentally available and understanding the work. She focuses on creating softness through consistent pressure‑and‑release, clear boundaries, and thoughtful repetition, allowing the horse to find the right answer without tension or confusion.
Julie competes locally and nationally in both Ranch Riding and Barrel Racing — two disciplines that require very different timing, feel, and athletic demands. This range has strengthened her ability to read each horse’s mental and physical state, adjust her approach, and bring out their best performance. She owns three Quarter Horses — Kaycee, Tater, and Mighty — and has worked with horses across a wide spectrum of ages, breeds, and training backgrounds.
Her priority is always the horse’s foundation: respect, straightness, rhythm, responsiveness to light cues, and a quiet mind that supports willingness. Julie specializes in western disciplines and incorporates principles of classical horsemanship, groundwork, and body control to develop a horse that is supple, confident, and able to carry themselves correctly.
Her calm, steady presence helps horses regulate, soften, and stay connected. Whether she is focusing on fitness, groundwork, lateral control, transitions, or confidence‑building, Julie trains with confidence and patience.

Meet Carol (Owner, Cryo & Red-light therapy Practitioner)
Carol grew up as the daughter of a veterinarian, spending her childhood surrounded by an extraordinary range of animals — from the more common horses, dogs, and cats to the more exotic reptiles, an African elephant, and even bottlenose dolphins. That early exposure shaped her understanding of behavior, handling, and the importance of calm, confident communication across species.
Her academic background in Exercise Physiology deepened that foundation, giving her a technical understanding of how movement is influenced by soreness, compensation patterns, and biomechanical imbalance. Throughout her career, she has explored a wide range of recovery modalities designed to support athletes in reducing inflammation, restoring proper movement, and returning to training with improved function.
Today, she brings that same knowledge to the equine world. Carol offers targeted cryotherapy as a supportive tool for horse owners seeking to enhance recovery, manage soft‑tissue strain, and help their horses return to work with greater comfort, balance, and willingness.
